Four hospitalized after I-5 rollover crash

0915-i-5-crash-1Jackson County, Ore. – Oregon State Police responded Thursday morning to a single vehicle crash on I-5, 13 miles south of Ashland.

Deputies say an investigation determined a Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. It drove on the shoulder for several hundred yards then drove back onto the roadway. Once it was on the interstate, it rolled and ejected two of the passengers. The pickup truck came to rest 100 yards down an embankment.

According to OSP, 40-year-old Matt Tudor of Yreka was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Tudor was the only one apparently wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies say one passenger was hospitalized and treated for his injuries, which are not serious.  Two other passengers were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

OSP says two dogs were in the truck when the crash happened. They have not yet been located.

Deputies said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the driver may have fallen asleep.
