Coos County, Ore. – Three men were rescued by the Coast Guard from a capsizing fishing boat at the Coos Bay sand bar on Tuesday, according to The Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
Two Coast Guard boats and helicopters responded after receiving a distress call from the boat. 42-year-old David Shellong of North Bend, 43-year-old David Williams of Cottonwood, California, and 46-year-old Raymundo Cardoso of Winchester Bay were all rescued from the water and taken to the hospital. The World, a Coos Bay newspaper is reporting that Cardoso died.
The investigation is ongoing.
