Time running out for Oregonians with expired tax refund checks

0823 tax refund check 1040Salem, Ore. — Check your files, the state may be getting ready to pocket your tax refund.

More than 5,000 taxpayers have not deposited tax refund checks.

Checks expire two years from their issuance date, but you can get them reissued. That time window to get a new check is slim.

The Oregon Department of Revenue sent out 7,000 letters in July notifying taxpayers they need to request a new check before their money is transferred to the department of state lands.
