One arrested in Rogue River police pursuit

Rogue River PursuitJosephine Co., Ore. — Rogue River Police have arrested a man, after they say he lead multiple agencies on a pursuit from Rogue River to Grants Pass early Saturday morning.

Rogue River Police say just before 1:30 AM, an officer attempted a traffic stop on a grey van by Depot street, near the interstate. Officers say the van got onto I5, and led police to Grants Pass, where three of the passengers jumped out and ran.

Police were able to stop the van with spike strips, after they say it nearly hit an Oregon State Police trooper.

ATHENIAN RUSSELL They arrested the driver, Athenian Russell, 18, who they say attempted to flee on foot. He was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on numerous charges, including attempted assault in the first degree, attempt to elude a police vehicle, attempt to elude police on foot, reckless driving, and four counts of reckless endangering. His bail was set at $65,000.00.

A juvenile passenger in the van was released to his parents, but officers are still searching for the other three suspects. If you have any information, call police.
