Trial for former Central Point teacher pushed back again

Medford, Ore. — A former Crater High School Teacher facing sex charges had his trial pushed back to a later date.

Jeffrey Zundel is facing 11 felony counts of sex abuse in the second degree and one count of sex abuse in the third degree.

His trial was originally set for last December, then moved to this April.

On Wednesday, March 15, a judge approved moving it again to a later date within the year.

Zundel was arrested in October, 2015, accused of having sex with a minor.

He taught world studies at the Renaissance Academy at the time of the allegations and was immediately put on administrative leave.

He was fired just a few weeks later.

His alleged victim spoke over the phone in court on Wednesday. She was very emotional saying she’s been raped, and the trial being pushed back has brought her continuous suffering mentally and emotionally.

She says she wants to see justice, but the judge said Zundel has due process rights, and the judge wants to be sure everything is done properly before going into trial.

Zundel has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
