Uncertainty looms over Trump impeachment trial

(NBC News)  The second impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump begins Tuesday with a vote on whether the trial itself is constitutional.

The former president is accused of inciting the deadly January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol.

It’s still unclear if either side will call witnesses, but Mr. Trump’s attorneys have stated he will not testify.

Trump’s team calls the trial “political theatre, arguing his fiery speech is protected by the First Amendment.

Democrats claim he aimed the mob “like a loaded cannon down Pennsylvania Avenue” when he told them go to the Capitol and “fight like hell.”
