Urban Rest Stop volunteers honored

Medford, Ore — Two long time volunteers were recognized today for their outstanding hard work helping Southern Oregon’s homeless.

T.C. And Lee Myers were given the community service award by the Jackson County Commissioners for their work with the St. Vincent DePaul Urban Rest Stop.

The rest stop gives displaced and disadvantages people a place to wash their clothes, showers and groom.

“Their shoes or boots and socks are sopping wet, and to get into a hot shower they say is like heaven. They only get 15 minutes, but to them it changes the world,” said Lee Myers.

The Urban Rest Stop operates five days a week with four volunteers from 8a.m. to 12p.m at St. Vincent DePaul’s location on Highway 99 in Medford.
