Hillary on the hot seat

NC_clinton161022_700x394(NBC News) Former Secretary of State and current Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton faced a barrage of questions on Capitol Hill Thursday during a day-long hearing before the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Clinton began by focusing on Ambassador Chris Stevens and the four Americans who died.

“I took responsibility, and as part of that before I left office, I launched reforms to better protect people in the field,” she said.

She also said that she never saw slain ambassador Chris Stevens’ requests for more security.

“He did not raise security with me. He raised them with security officials,” Clinton testified.

Still, she argues, to keep terrorism from growing, diplomats must continue to work in dangerous areas.

The committee has spent nearly a year and a half and more than four and a half million taxpayer dollars investigating the attacks.

Democrats maintain the Benghazi hearings are about the 2016 election, an effort to derail Clinton’s campaign.
