Port Clyde, Mai. – The Coast Guard is crediting a fisherman in Maine with saving the lives of two fellow lobstermen after their boat caught fire Thursday morning.
The two men on the burning boat had just enough time to send out a distress call before flames engulfed their boat.
When Gerry Cushman heard the call for help on his radio, his boat was three miles away, but he managed to reach the burning boat just in time.
The men were out on the tip of the boat, and then jumped in when Cushman pulled his boat next to theirs. The Coast Guard arrived and tried to put out the flames, but the boat sank.
No yet word on what caused the fire.
