North Korea’s bomb claims in doubt

NC_nkoreareax0106_700x394(NBC News) The White House is expressing skepticism over North Korea’s claims that it has detonated a hydrogen bomb.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during his daily briefing that the initial analysis is not consistent with the claims a hydrogen bomb exploded, but it is believed some type of nuclear test was conducted by North Korea.

Earnest said the White House will continue to monitor the situation, but the claims have not caused the government to change its assessment of North Korea’s technical and military capabilities.

He also indicated that the White House was not surprised by North Korea’s nuclear testing.

An emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council concluded that additional measures against North Korea would be considered for violating their international obligations.
