Sex offender found in haunted house

10.31 HAUNTED SEX OFFENDER(WTMJ) It’s the kind of nightmare that’s unwelcome to even the most patient parents on Halloween.

Officers in Slinger, Wisconsin this week arrested 36-year-old Andy Hawthorne – a registered sex offender – for allegedly volunteering and interacting with children at the Dwelling of Despair and Forest of Fear attraction.

The complex, owned and operated by the non-profit group Hartford Jaycees, is only open 11 days out of the year. According to the criminal complaint, Hawthorne is suspected of working their at least seven days.

Hawthorne was caught only after an off-duty police officer recognized him from the registry. Court documents show the officer, a detective from the West Bend Police Department, saw Hawthorne take off his monster mask after scaring some kids as part of the haunted house experience.
