Utah family receives duplicate ballots

nc_duplicateballots1108_1500x845Sandy, Utah (KSL) — Mary Petty has been getting a lot of important pieces of mail lately. Many of them not even addressed to her.

She said in the last month she received 14 official mail-in voter ballots at her Sandy, Utah home.

“When we started getting them, we got them all at once basically,” Petty said. “On the one day, I had seven of them or eight of them.”

The only problem is that there are only four people living in her home.

“Of the four who live here, three of us got double ballots,” Petty said.

The other ballots were for people who had previously lived at the home.

Duplicate ballots are something the Salt Lake County Clerk’s Office was hoping to avoid.

“We don’t catch everything. We tried but you know they know they are only supposed to vote one ballot,” Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen said.
