Vigil honors Cascade Mall victims

Burlington, Wash. (KING) — Hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil Monday night just steps away from the Burlington, Washington mall where a gunman killed five people late Friday.

“It just shows how strong our community is,” said one woman.

In the days since the tragedy, messages of support have shown up on reader boards, and neighbors like Toni Hinkle have offered to help. On Monday night, the goal was to bring the community together.

“It just kind of grew from there, and kind of got bigger as people found out,” said Hinkle.
