Washington’s Suncrest Fire prompts evacuations

Suncrest FireLeavenworth, Wash. – A wildfire burning two miles east of Leavenworth, Washington has burned nearly 500 acres and is now 35% contained.

Firefighters said the Suncrest Fire was first reported on Saturday at around 3:00 p.m. Roughly 100 homes north of North Road between Anderson Canyon and Fox Roads were under level three (get out) evacuation notices as of Monday afternoon. Additional homes in the area remain threatened.

Over 300 firefighters are working to hold and improve the existing fire line. The cause is still under investigation.
