Update (03/30/17 3:38 p.m.) — The first stage of a re-used SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully landed on a drone ship minutes after launch.
Cape Canaveral, Fla. – In a historic attempt, SpaceX plans to launch its first “pre-flown” rocket Thursday evening.
The Falcon 9 rocket currently on the launch pad first flew in April 2016 after landing autonomously on a “drone ship” floating in the Atlantic Ocean.
SpaceX said the launch window begins at 3:27 p.m. PST.
Thursday’s launch is set to put a communications satellite into orbit for Luxembourg-based SES SA.
