Waterfalls appear on Australia’s iconic Uluru

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, Australia — An unusually heavy rainstorm swept through central Australia on Christmas Day.

The storm caused severe flooding in the normally arid region.

CNN reports over 9 inches of rain fell in Kintore, Northern Territory in less than 24 hours – more than five times their monthly average.

Stunning photos of the rain waters flowing off Australia’s Uluru quickly went viral following the Christmas storm.

Roads and trails quickly became temporary lakes and rivers during the storm.
