Welcome home Klyde

Grants Pass, Ore., — Meet Klyde, looking at him now – he’s just a regular three year old boy.

You wouldn’t know over the past year he’s been fighting a rare brain tumor.

“A roller coaster. The first half was so rough for him, seeing him all the time in the hospital, not being himself, just really in a bad spot.” said Klyde’s mother, Maddie Doig.

The Grants Pass family has been constantly travelling to Portland for chemotherapy.

They even lived there at one point.

Now, Klyde is cancer free and done with his chemo.

Thursday a parade full of friends and family were there to welcome him, and his parents home.

“It was really exciting to coming in to all the people, I did not expect this.” said Doig.

The Hidden Valley High School Sparrow Club put together the parade.

Doig’s an alum, and says that means so much more.

“It’s awesome, I love the Sparrow Club there and I remember seeing it when I was even going there, so the fact that they stepped up to pick him was awesome.” said Doig.

She says the family’s just excited to be home, for Klyde to focus on his childhood – like a love of superheroes.

But above all else, for the family to get back to their normal lives.

“Hopefully by this summer he’ll have all his tubes and lines out, and he’ll be able to swim in the river, and play like a normal kid again, and we won’t have to worry about anything anymore.” said Doig.
