Wildfire prompts closure of Hwy. 97 near Oregon/California border

UPDATE (8:05 p.m.): CalFire reports the Owens Fire is 55 acres in size and 55% contained as of approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Dorris, Calif. – Highway 97 is being closed at the Oregon/California border due to a wildfire, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The vegetation fire is reportedly 2 to 3 miles south of the border near Dorris, California.

Around 5:00 p.m., CAL FIRE tweeted the fire off Owens Road was estimated to be 25 acres.
