Woman arrested for stealing hospice donation box

1129-madrone-hospice-donation-boxYreka, Calif. – Yreka police officers responded to a reported robbery Monday afternoon at the Madrone Hospice thrift shop on West Miner Street in Yreka.

According to the Yreka Police Department, when officers arrived they found 18-year-old transient Madison Jolene Paige Cordova with two Madrone Hospice employees behind Ming’s Restaurant.

An employee told police Cordova went into the thrift store an approached the cash register. She told staff she had a gun and not to move. Cordova then allegedly grabbed a donation and ran from the store, with the employee following.

Police said Cordova was taken into custody without incident. She was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail and charged with robbery.
