Florida Walmart employees charged in shoplifter death

NC_walmartdeath0803_1500x845Lakeland, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida police have arrested three Walmart employees in connection with the disturbing death of a suspected shoplifter.

The incident happened last February when 64-year-old Kenneth Wisham left a Walmart with stolen merchandise.

Three employees chased him and held him down in the parking lot until police arrived.

Authorities say it was during that wait that Wisham suffered broken ribs and died of suffocation.

“He died of 15 broken ribs and mechanical asphyxia, he was unable to breathe,” Sgt. Gary Gross says.

All three employees face manslaughter charges.
