Gold Hill — Students at Patrick Elementary in Gold Hill got to practice earthquake drills on Thursday, however, this exercise included their bedtime fuzzy friends.
Using stuffed animals, students got to practice registering their pet and assigning them a crate at a shelter.
It’s the first time the school has held an event like this. Patrick Elementary student Sierra Hill said, “Yeah, I think it’s super cool because I can know exactly what I need to be doing and exactly how to help, because it’s just not something many people get to do.”
In the case of an evacuation, Jackson County Emergency Management says that you should always take your pets with you if you can.
