Man who ran from police was allegedly carrying nearly 3 pounds of meth and heroin

0506 Juan Manuel OrozcoJackson County, Ore. – Police say a man was arrested after he was found to be in the possession of nearly 3 pounds of methamphetamine and heroin.

According to Oregon State Police, a vehicle traveling on I-5 near Ashland was pulled over by an OSP trooper on Wednesday night. The trooper noticed signs of suspicious activity and asked to search the vehicle, but he was denied.

The vehicle then drove northbound on I-5 in an attempt to elude the officer. The vehicle stopped, and dropped off 47-year-old Manuel Juan Orozco, who ran east away from I-5.

Orozco was eventually caught, and a backpack containing 1.2 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.5 pounds of heroin was found nearby.

Orozco is behind bars at the Jackson County Jail on charges possession and delivery of methamphetamine and heroin, and interfering with a police officer. His bail has been set at $1 million.
