Gang Related Drive By Shooting

Another gang related incident sparks concerns about the rise of random acts of violence in Southern Oregon.

Sunday afternoon authorities were called out to what they are calling a gang related drive by shooting in West Medford.

Around 12:30 pm patrol units responded to a shots fired call on Western Avenue and Humphries Street. Upon arrival they confirmed several shots had been fired and one vehicle was struck. Medford police say local gang activity isn’t necessarily increasing. However, they do say this latest incident may garner retaliation.

“We’ll have months of very little activity, and then something like this will happen which tends to spark it up. Then gangs will commonly retaliate over one incident and eventually it potentially gets worse.” said Lt. Mike Budreau of the Medford Police Department.

Investigators are attempting to locate a vehicle that may have been involved. It is described as being a light colored 4 door cadillac, without a front plate.
