Central Point woman indicted for financial elder abuse

0906 Christina Marie ChristopherCentral Point, Ore. – A Central Point woman was indicted on charges related to financial abuse of a 69-year-old man under her care.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said a year-long investigation revealed 44-year-old Christina Marie Christopher spent more than $131,000 from the victim’s accounts. Additionally, more than $105,000 in credit was taken out in the victim’s name. Christopher used the money and credit to acquire real estate and to purchase goods and services.

According to deputies, Christopher is a family member of the victim who requires care due to dementia. She assumed responsibility for his care and power of attorney.

Christopher turned herself in to police and was booked at the Jackson County Jail on 11 counts of criminal mistreatment, two counts of aggravated theft, two counts of theft in the first degree, and six counts of theft in the second degree.
