Sutter County, Calif. — Beale Air Force Base says one pilot was killed and a second pilot was hurt after ejecting from a U-2 plane that crashed in Sutter County, north of Sacramento.
NBC affiliate KCRA reports the U-2 crashed about 9:05 a.m. near West Butte and Pass roads shortly after taking off for a training mission.
Witnesses told KCRA’s Mike Luery that they saw two parachutes carrying people and a third carrying equipment.
The incident is under investigation.
