1-year-old Trail girl hit by a car

0608 James LickissUpdate (06/09 10:30 a.m.) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said 72-year-old James Lickliss struck the child’s head with the tire of his car while as he was backing out of a shared driveway. He was apparently unaware he had hit the child.

Deputies say Lickliss returned to the scene a short time later and  showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was jailed on charges of assault, DUII, and reckless driving.

The JCSO said the incident has been referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.


Trail, Ore. — A 1-year-old baby girl is fighting for her life after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on the 800 block of Old Trail Creek Road in Trail around 4:00 p.m.

A Shady Cove firefighter told NBC5 News the child was hit in a shared driveway. The injuries are to her head, and are significant. She was airlifted with her parents to Rogue Regional Medical Center

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office declined to discuss whether criminal charges will be filed.
