25 tons of garbage removed from Portland home

(KGW) The owner of a Portland, Oregon rental home is stuck cleaning 50,000 pounds of trash left behind by former tenants who ditched the property.

“I think I lost part of my soul cleaning it,” Braheem Hazeem says.

Hazeem said he had rented the home to a woman and her disabled son for 14 years. After they left, Hazeem discovered they had canceled garbage service five years earlier and started dumping their trash in and around the home.

“The first seven or eight years she lived there, I came by the home a lot,” said Hazeem. “She was fine so then I kind of ignored the place thinking the inspections through Section 8 would be good. They weren’t, apparently.”
