Arrest made in string of deadly San Diego homeless attacks

0708 Anthony PadgettSan Diego, Calif (KUSI) — On Thursday morning, San Diego police homicide detectives arrested 36-year-old Anthony Padgett in connection with a chilling spasm of attacks on San Diego’s homeless community while they slept.

Over a four-day period, two homeless mean were beaten to death, two others left clinging to life, and two of the four set on fire.

According to a Chula Vista newspaper, Padgett was sentenced to state prison six years ago for setting a homeless man on fire near a Food For Less store in Chula Vista.

On Padgett’s Facebook page he posted a photo of a document stating he had been released from prison.

San Diego police say Padgett was arrested in Chula Vista near the intersection of Wood Lawn and H Street.

Before the news of Padgett’s arrest, a serial killer profiler told a local radio station whoever the killer was had an internal rage against homeless men that was almost volcanic, especially with two of the homeless men being set on fire after being severely beaten.
