Ashland, Ore. — A member of the Ashland fire department makes history. For the first time in the departments 130 year history, a woman served as acting fire captain.
Firefighter and paramedic Ashley Manning recently completed a fire captain exam process and has been placed on a promotional list to fill future vacancies.
On Saturday, Manning was acting captain for a portion of the day. She is the first female in the history of Ashland Fire & Rescue to successfully test and make the captain’s list.
