Bird flu found at Tyson chicken farm

Lincoln County, Tenn (CNN) — A deadly form of bird flu has a Tennessee chicken farm under quarantine.

Agents from the U.S. Department of Agriculture found a strain of the bird flu virus at a facility that supplies Tyson foods.

As a result, more than 73,000 chicken had to be euthanized.

It’s the first confirmed bird flu case at a commercial farm this year.

Tyson says it is “responding aggressively,” working with officials to contain the virus and plans on meeting all customers’ needs.

The outbreak however is prompting South Korea to ban American poultry imports.

Department of agriculture is not identifying the farm, but says it is in Lincoln County, just west of Chattanooga.
