Bybee Creek Fire continues to burn in Crater Lake Nat’l Park

0801 Bybee FireCrater Lake Nat’l Park, Ore. — Crews are continuing to battle the fire burning in the Crater Lake National Park.

The South Central Oregon Incident Management Team says the Bybee Creek Fire became more active Monday afternoon, spotting up toward the Rim Road and into the caldera.

Fugitive retardant drops and constructing a fire line are the main strategies to keep the 720-acre fire from reaching the ridge line.

Parts of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Rim Road are closed. The fire is still only 10% contained.
