Citizen assist leads to suspect arrest

0412 Angel MalloryMedford, Ore. – Police were able to catch a fleeing suspect Monday night thanks to the intervention of citizen.

Medford Police say that around 6:45, an officer tried to stop a black Ford Focus at Columbus and Main Streets in Medford. The vehicle eluded officers until it eventually crashed into a yard near Humphrey Street.

MPD says the owner of the home came outside and grabbed the suspect as police were arriving to the scene of the crash. The suspect was eventually able to escape the homeowner’s grasp, but he was slowed enough an officer was able to catch up.

The officer was able to arrest the suspect after deploying his taser. 24-year-old Angel Mallory, was taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on multiple charges including attempting to elude, reckless driving, hit and run, interference with a police officer, and DUII.
