Crews continue to battle wildfire in Crater Lake Nat’l Park

0801 Bybee FireCrater Lake Nat’l Park, Ore. — Firefighters are continuing their work to try and contain the fire burning in Crater Lake National Park.

South Central Oregon Incident Management says the so-called Bybee Creek Fire was moving east, prompting crews to clear vegetation from trails to help increase the barrier between burned and unburned fuels.

Cooler temperatures Sunday night did help slow the 425-acre fire’s progression.0801 Bybee fire 01

The national park is still open, although parts of the Pacific Crest Trail are closed. The fire was listed as 10% contained on Monday.
