Driver arrested for allegedly striking bicyclist, vehicle

kelli-jean-kissaneGrants Pass, Ore. – The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said officers were dispatched around 6:30 Thursday evening to a reported crash in the 200 block of Fruitdale Drive.

Witnesses told police a bicyclist was hit by a vehicle which did not stop at the crash. When officers arrived at the scene they found 21-year-old Christopher Sandoval lying unresponsive on the shoulder of the road. He was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

During the investigation, police said they received calls reporting the suspect vehicle was involved in another crash on Cloverlawn Drive. A Honda CRV was forced into a ditch, the driver was not injured.

Police said 911 callers reported the suspect vehicle pulled into a residence on Robertson Lane. When police arrived at the address they discovered a Nissan Maxima with substantial front-end damage and a bicycle still attached to the undercarriage. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Kelli Kissane, exited the Maxima with obvious signs of impairment.

According to GPDPS, Kissane was arrested on charges of assault, DUII, assault, reckless driving and failure to perform the duties of a driver at the scene of an accident. She was not injured in the crash.

The bicyclist has recently been upgraded to stable condition.
