Frozen fruits and vegetables possibly contaminated with Listeria

0503 Fruits VegetablesPasco, Wash. – CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is voluntarily recalling certain frozen fruits and vegetables.

According to the company, the products may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria has the potential to cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly, or those with compromised immune systems.

The recall of traditional and organic frozen fruits and vegetables includes all products manufactured by CRF Frozen Foods since May 1, 2014. These include 358 products sold under 42 separate brands. Some of the brands include Great Value, Trader Joe’s, and Safeway Kitchen.

The Centers for Disease Control has identified seven people from three states who became ill and were hospitalized due to Listeria. Some of those illnesses have been linked to products manufactured by CRF Frozen Foods.

The company says that affected products have been sold in all fifty states and certain Canadian Provinces.
