Gold Canyon Fire burns near Selma

gold canyon4Update (08/31 3:40 p.m.) — According to ODF, the area around Wild Park Lane is being reduced to a Level One (Be Ready) evacuation level.
Residents on Reeves Creek Road will remain at a level one until further notice.

Selma, Ore.- Fire crews worked through the night, Tuesday, building and strengthening fire line on the Gold Canyon Fire south of Selma. By Wednesday morning, the fire had grown to approximately 120 acres, was 100 percent lined and 20 percent contained.

 The fire was reported just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. The cause is under investigation.

Residents on Wildpark Lane and Terrece Place will remain at a Level 2 Evacuation Level, which means they need to be set to leave their homes if the evacuation level increases. Residents on Reeves Creek Road are at a Level 1 Evacuation Level, which means they need to be ready at a moments notice.

An American Red Cross shelter remains open in the gymnasium at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass.
