Golden eagle to receive artificial lens transplant

Phoenix the Golden EagleMedford, Ore. — Phoenix the eagle will receive a rare cataract surgery and artificial lens transplant on Wednesday. The cataracts nearly cover his left eye, leaving him with almost no sight in that eye. Phoenix arrived at Wildlife Images in Grants Pass back in 1980 as an eaglet after falling out of his nest in Brookings.

I-MED Animal Health made the donation of the artificial lens. The surgery will take place at Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center in Medford
