Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Deputies heading to Harney Co.

Medford, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is sending a team of deputies to assist law enforcement in Harney County. Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward sent out a formal request for mutual aid. Jackson County Sheriff Corey Falls sent a team of four (a Captain, a Sergeant, and two deputies) to help Monday.

CoeryFallsAccording to a press release from JCSO, the team is being asked to keep the citizens of Harney County and Sheriff Ward safe. The deputies will not be getting involved in any federal enforcement according to the release.

Armed protesters have been occupying a government building on the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Harney County for more than 3 weeks now.
