Kevin Talbert to fill interim senate seat

Kevin-Talbert1-214x300Medford, Ore.- Jackson County Commissioners have chosen Kevin Talbert to fill the state senate seat left empty by Dr. Alan Bates’ death.

Dr. Bates died Aug. 5, 2016 while fishing with his son in Douglas County.

Jackson County Democrats gave the commissioners three options for the interim position- Tonya Moro, who is also the Democrats’ nominee on the November ballot, former Talent Police Chief Mike Moran and Talbert, a retired education administrator.

The commissioners chose Talbert because he has no political aspirations past the interim term. He will fill the seat until the person who wins the November election is sworn in.
