District Attorney’s Office Bombing: An Act of Terrorism?

When asked if he thought it was an act of terrorism, Police Chief Tim Goorge didn’t hesitate to answer.

He says “I think it’s domestic terrorism absolutely. I mean any time that part of the justice system is singled out, in this type of an event, with this type of device and intent. absolutely.”

According to the FBI, here’s what constitutes domestic terrorism and how this case may apply:

This person or people put lives in danger, targeted a government building, and affected the conduct of a government business.

Because of the nature of the crime, along with our local agencies. the FBI and ATF are both on the scene investigating.

Both of those agencies have also called in for additional support from their offices in Portland and Seattle.

Chief George says “a minimum of 25 plus people are working this and additional are people coming, specifically working the technical side of it and that’s the examination and the collection of evidence, which is crucial for the prosecution in these types of cases, specifically the explosive device.”

Chief George also says the area around the District Attorney’s office is going to remain secure for quite some time.

“It’s going to take some time to go through the methodical process of crime scene investigation, it’s going to go on for a bit.”
