FDA warns Kind Bars makers of misleading consumers

The Food and Drug Administration has warned the maker of Kind Bars that some of its products are misleading consumers.

In a letter to Kind Snacks, the FDA is asking the company to strip the term ‘healthy’ from its packaging and website, as well as the “+” symbol, on at least four of its bars.

The letter also brings up concerns over claims about antioxidants, fiber, the lack of trans fat and other ingredient mislabeling violations.

The FDA says none of the four products it reviewed meet the requirement for use of the nutrient content claim ‘healthy.’
