A dramatic rescue as a pair of South Medford sophomores lift up their friends vehicle to free him after a lunchtime rollover accident.
South Medford sophomore David McNair was driving 3 of his friends back to school when he lost control, his Acura landing on it’s side, pinning his arm underneath.
Tristan Moore and Ty Razui quickly leapt into action, lifting the vehicle, freeing their friend’s arm.
“I couldn’t believe we lifted that car up, we lifted it up and he crawled out. It was just adrenaline.”
McNair’s Acura was rounding a corner on Griffin Creek Lane when it lost control.
“We were just going too fast around that corner and we flew into the bank and turned upside down.”
McNair, a die hard BMX-er, just got his driver’s license.
But when the car landed on the driver’s side, his window shattered, his left arm almost completely severed below the wrist.
“We looked over and we saw his hand off of his arm, so me and Ty just like, you know, picked it up (the car).”
McNair wasn’t in pain, shock had already taken over.
“He said guys call an ambulance I’m in shock, I can’t feel it… but his his arm was dangling off… nuts.”
McNair’s hand was put on ice by paramedics and he was transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Meanwhile his friends, still reeling, offered their best wishes.
“Get well.”
“Get well, we’ll miss you.”
“Prayers are appreciated. We need prayers right now.”
McNair was brought up to OHSU in Portland where he immediately went into the emergency room.
