God & guns

Paducah, Ky. — (WPSD) A Kentucky church is getting national attention for its latest attempt to minister to community members.

The Second Amendment Celebration and Dinner will be held Thursday at Lone Oak First Baptist Church in Paducah.

It’s free for anyone to attend, includes a free steak dinner for the first 1,000 guests, and anyone who registers has the chance to win one of 25 guns.

Minister of Education Howard Fuller says it’s not the first time they’ve held this type of event.

“We’ll reach a different kind of clientele for an event like this than we do with a food giveaway at Christmas time,” he said.

Church leaders say all guns were purchased by individuals, Sunday School Classes, or businesses in the community. No budgeted church funds were used to purchase vouchers for guns.

They also said they do not see this as a political event, just a way to celebrate all aspects of the Constitution of the United States.
