Keeping cool

Medford, Ore Air conditioning repair businesses in Southern Oregon have been beyond busy fixing systems that stopped working in this week’s heat wave.

When temperatures reach the 100 degree mark it’s nice to know you can hide from the heat in an air conditioned home, but when Dean Royce’s unit failed Tuesday he had to find another way to keep cool.

“Air Conditioning went out, and we spent a night without it, but we opened the windows up in the house, that I use to do as a child when we lived without air conditioning,” said Royce.

So the next morning he called the professionals to fix an issue they say, is all too common this time of year.

“There’s always something to do, whether it be actual service calls, maintenance, we have a lot of maintenance customers,” said Randy Ekwall.

On a hot day the normal service calls give way to a flood of urgent calls to get the air back on. Repairman Randy Ekwall says a few simple steps could keep your a/c going.

“One of the first things they can do before they even call, is check the filters, if they see they got a real dirty filter change that filter out, said Ekwall. For bigger issues you’ll need to call in a pro.

“We now have it fixed and it’s humming away and I expect to spend a cool night sleeping tonight not like last night where it was so hot,” said Royce.
