Medford Police Find Burglar With Help From Pawn Shop

Some relieffor the Medford couple who lost $40,000 in items, including two vehicles, while they were on vacation.

The man suspected of stealing from them is caught and sits behind bars, thanks in part to a local pawn shop.

Police say sometime between December 6 and 16, Patrick Shawn Munn broke into a home here on Starwood Court in Medford, the homeowners on vacation.

“We believe the suspect was aware the victims were out of town we believe that because the home was ransacked and it looked like they spent a lot of time in there,” said Lt. Mike Budreau, Medford Police.

Police believe Munn found mail piling up inside of a mailbox and figured no one was home.

Medford police say they were able to find 95% of the stolen items at a nearby pawn shop.

Employees at Medford Pawn say every item brought in is uploaded to a national database.

The list is then sent to the agencies to to see if they belong to a particular crime.

While police say the homeowners will be getting their items returned, not all cases have this relatively happy ending.

They want to remind you if you do plan on going on vacation to suspend your mail and newspaper deliveries and program your lights and even tv to go on at certain times.
