Murder by truck

Douglasville, Ga. — (WXIA) A Douglasville, Georgia family is in shock after a motorist turned a vehicle into a weapon and ran over a grandmother right in front of them.

According to her daughter, 53-year-old Janice Pitts moved from Los Angeles to Douglasville two years ago for a better and safer life for her family.

“She survived breast cancer, twice, stage three the last go-round, and she fought it; for her life to be taken from her this way, she didn’t deserve to die like that,” daughter Iesha Davis said.

Pitts was driving Davis to work and her 4-year-old grandson was in the back seat of their Lincoln Navigator SUV. As they were waiting at the light to make a left turn, they were suddenly hit from behind by a large Chevrolet pick-up truck several times.

Police say 23-year-old Dewey Calhoun Green rammed his pickup truck into the back of a car driven by 53-year-old Janice Pitts Wednesday morning while she was at a stop light. When Pitts got out of the car to check the damage, witnesses say Green drove into Pitts, pinning her between both vehicles. Police say he ran over her again while trying to get away.
