Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow

Punxsutawney, Pa. –Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, showed up on Groundhog Day and saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter for us.

Groundhog Day fans were out in huge numbers to see if winter would hang on much longer.

The furry rodent made his annual prediction Monday at 7:25 am.

Phil also saw his shadow in 2014, a prediction that definitely proved to be true as cold weather hung on well into March in many places last year.

Since his first prediction in 1887, Phil has seen his shadow just over 100 times, and has not seen his shadow just 17 times.

The national Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says Phil’s forecasts have been very flimsy, but of course, Punxsutawney Phil fans say he is always correct.
