Thursday marks four years since David Grubbs was murdered on an Ashland bike path

Ashland, Ore.– For the last four years, Cheri Grubbs has lived with a hole in he heart.

“I’ve taught myself not to cry. Otherwise I’d be crying all the time.”

Her 23-year-old son, David Grubbs was murdered on the Ashland bike path on November 19, 2011. Ashland Police said he was nearly decapitated but the killer was no where to be found.

They said whoever killed Grubbs used some sort of sword.

There an no suspects in this case but NBC5 news first told you about the second person of interest in this case back in January. Christian Delaurentiis of Washington County. He was convicted for killing and dismembering his roommate in Aloha. And police said he was living in or around Ashland during the time of Grubbs’ murder.

Chief Tighe O’meara said, “We really need the public’s help. We know someone out there know  something and we need them to come forward.”

O’meara said Delaurentiis is still a person of interest in this case that is far from cold.

“We have a detective assigned to it,” said O’meara.

But O’meara stayed tight lipped abotu any new developments. “If there is a new person of interest or not I wouldn’t comment one way or the other.”

Both O’meara and Cheri Grubbs are just pleading for the public’s help to finally crack such a tragic case.

“I want them to remember, to not forget, the horrific thing that happened to my son..right here…right here (pointing to memorial where Grubbs was murdered).
