Wildlife Images, a non-profit that rescues injured animals is asking for your help. They’re trying to rebuild after large heavy trees came crashing down on their facility Friday evening.
It looked like a disaster zone, huge trees, all fallen on animal enclosures and a van at Wildlife Images in Grants Pass.
“I was hoping to have a van and a new clinic underneath the trees this Christmas but this isn’t what I had in mind at all,” said Dan Siddon, Executive Director of Wildlife Images.
The non-profit rescues and rehabilitates injured wildlife and luckily in all the debris, no animals were hurt. Siddon says he visited the building on Friday before the destruction and the weather was ominous, with sounds of trees cracking in the distance.
“It was like more worried about getting hit by a tree than having a bear escape.”
But sometime after he left, trees came crashing down. Officials say they had to move many of their animals to other areas. The situation was made more difficult by power outages in the area.
“We were without water for 36 hours, no water, no phones, no power, so it’s been a huge mess around here.”
Now officials say they’re just focused on cleaning up with the limited resources they have, all the while, continuing to take in injured wildlife.
