White City V.A. looking for public feedback

White City, Ore — After a push from the White House, Veteran’s Affairs facilities across the country are looking for input from both veterans and the public.

On September 26th the Veteran’s Affairs Facility in White City will host a town hall. They want to hear questions and concerns from both veterans and members of the community.

One veteran tells NBC5 that this town hall could be a chance to address serious issues he says plagues him and his fellow veterans.

Following direction from the United States Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs, the V.A. facility in White City is opening it’s door to a town hall style meeting.

“It gives us an opportunity to listen and learn, to hear what veterans have to say, the good, the bad, the ugly, said Rhonda Haney of the V.A.

The announcement by Facility Director Don Burman is aimed at getting feedback, not just from veterans but from those who represent them.

“We can make sure we’ve heard the veteran’s concerns and actually nip away at some of the concerns that they have and actually try to solve them,” said Haney.

That’s welcome news to veterans like Jeff Price who says he’s happy with the V.A. in White City, but Price does think certain issues need to be addressed.

“I’m hoping that it’s not just a show, that there’s actually something that they want to get accomplished through this, said Price.

Price himself suffers from PTSD and believes more can be done to help vets like him.

“The mental health issues, we need people we can talk to and that’s what’s kind of lacking right now, and we really need more of it,” said Price.

Price sees this as a golden opportunity to make his voice heard.

“That brings out a little bit of hope, and every little bit of hope helps,” said Price.

The town hall will take place at the facility’s theater, on September 26th from 2p.m. to 4p.m.

White city V.A. director Don Burman will be at the meeting along with other facility administrators.
